Thrust ball bearings are designed to support axial loads in one direction while allowing rotational movement between machine components. They consist of two hardened steel washers (raceways) with a ball and cage assembly positioned between them.
These bearings are commonly used in automotive steering systems, machine tool spindles, and other applications requiring support of axial thrust loads at moderate speeds. They are not suitable for radial loads and must be mounted on flat, rigid surfaces to ensure proper load distribution.
