Thrust ball bearings are designed to support axial loads in one direction while allowing rotational movement between machine components. They consist of two hardened steel washers (raceways) with a ball and cage assembly between them.
These bearings are commonly used in automotive steering systems, machine tool spindles, crane hooks, and other applications where pure thrust loads must be accommodated with minimal friction. They are not suitable for radial loads and typically require adjacent components to provide radial support.
