Self-aligning ball bearings are designed with two rows of balls running on a spherical outer ring raceway, allowing the bearing to compensate for angular misalignment between the shaft and housing. The tapered bore (1:12 taper) enables secure mounting directly onto tapered shafts or cylindrical shafts using adapter sleeves or withdrawal sleeves.
These bearings are commonly used in applications where shaft deflection or misalignment is expected, such as agricultural equipment, conveyor systems, woodworking machinery, and general industrial equipment. The self-aligning capability makes them particularly suitable for applications with flexible shafts or where precise housing alignment is difficult to achieve.
