Self-aligning ball bearings feature two rows of balls running on a spherical outer ring raceway, allowing the bearing to accommodate angular misalignment between the shaft and housing. The tapered bore (1:12 taper) enables secure mounting directly onto tapered shafts or standard cylindrical shafts using adapter sleeves or withdrawal sleeves.
These bearings are commonly used in applications where shaft deflection or misalignment is expected, such as agricultural equipment, conveyor systems, woodworking machinery, and fans. The self-aligning capability helps reduce friction and wear caused by mounting errors or shaft deflection under load.
